Mac Mini-USB port not recognizing external hard drive hooked...? - mini usb hard drive
Basically I have a Mac mini and an external hard drive to the USP port is connected and possess long, not yesterday, not suddenly Mac USB port and the light reading is not even on. Never stopped only released from the diluted if not. What happened? Can I activate a USB disk on the Mac Mini?

Perhaps the battery is empty. Try another.
Try a different USB port if the Mac Mini is another.
Try a different USB cable.
Try to see another Mac / PC, whether it is detected.
